This is a full-time, permanent position based in Toronto, Ontario, with remote work flexibility (Onsite within the Toronto area). The Senior PHP/WordPress Developer will report to the Senior Director of Digital Platforms & Delivery and work alongside award-winning journalists and product development teams. The salary range is CAD 95,000 annually. Candidates should have senior-level expertise in PHP and WordPress development, with a strong understanding of scalable web architectures for high-traffic media platforms.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain WordPress platforms serving millions of weekly users
- Build custom themes and plugins for Postmedia's 110+ news brands
- Collaborate with journalists and product teams on digital features
- Optimize performance and scalability for high-traffic news sites
- Implement REST APIs and third-party integrations
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional PHP and WordPress development experience
- Strong expertise in custom WordPress theme and plugin development
- Proficiency with MySQL, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
- Experience with version control systems (Git)
- Understanding of web performance optimization and security best practices
- Ability to work remotely within Toronto, Ontario
