Role overview
Alpha Omega is seeking a skilled Software Engineer to support the NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) Data Stewardship Division. In this role, you will help develop and maintain the critical hardware, software, and process infrastructure required to manage environmental data. This is a full-time position requiring US Citizenship and a Public Trust clearance.

This is a Remote position based out of Asheville, NC, though other locations including Silver Spring, MD, Stennis Space Center, MS, and Boulder, CO are available. This is a full-time professional role and is not an internship. The annual salary for this position is 73,425 USD.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain robust software infrastructure for the NCEI Data Stewardship Division
- Collaborate with NOAA partners to optimize data hardware and software processes
- Implement scalable code to support large-scale environmental data sets
- Ensure system reliability and efficiency within the data stewardship framework
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle from design to deployment
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
- Proven experience in software engineering and system development
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Strong understanding of data infrastructure and stewardship principles
- Excellent problem-solving skills and technical documentation abilities
